Register NOW to play football with MANWELL…

When Manwell first launched, our mission was simple: create spaces where men could connect, talk openly and support each other. We started with Football. We continued that with Hiking, and this year we added Manwell Music to the mix. We know that life can be tough, and sometimes the hardest thing is admitting you need a break. That’s why we teamed up with RPM Studios in Liverpool – to build something unique, something that combined conversation with creativity.

A Space to Talk, A Space to Play

Manwell Music started as an idea: what if we gave men the chance to pick up an instrument, share a laugh, and maybe even share what’s on their mind? No pressure, no judgment – just a safe sapce to be yourself. And it worked. Week after week, guys dropped by, some seasoned players, others complete beginners, all united by one thing: the love of sharing music.

As Steve McVeigh put it:

“Being able to play music with a group of fellas and do that for the first time, because I’d never had the opportunity to do that before.”

For Steve, and many others, this wasn’t just about learning chords, it was about finding community.

Why Music? Because It Heals

Music has a way of reaching places words can’t. It’s therapy without the waiting list. Phil Dolan sums it up perfectly:

“Music is something I can disappear into. Music can touch people in a way that helps them during difficult times.”

And that’s the magic of Manwell Music. Whether you’re strumming a guitar, laying down a bass groove, playing a killer fill on the drums or singing your heart out, thouse moments can lift the weight of the world off your shoulders.

Richie Murray calls it his meditation:

“Music is a form of meditation. It hels you chill out, or depending on the song it can energise you.”

And isn’t that what we all need sometimes – a way to switch off, recharge, and feel human again?

More Than Just Chords

For Gary Warner, these session are a welcome escape:

“It’s a bit of a break from everyday life and family stresses as well.”

Life doesn’t stop being stressful, but when you’re in the studio with your mates, laughing over missed notes and celebrating small wins, it feels a little bit easier. That’s what we’re here for – lightening the loads together.

And as Paddy Ditchfield points out:

“It’s just fun to jam with people and sometimes when you’re at home and having a bad day it can just lighten it up.”

It sure can, Paddy! And that’s the point. Fun, friendship and freedom from the pressures of everyday life for a few hours.

From the Studio to the Stage

And here’s the incredible part: out of the sessions, a group of lads – most of whom had never played on stage with other musicians before – formed a band. Pitch 5 will be gearing up for their first-ever live performance at the Manwell Christmas Party at the Arts Bar on the 29th November.

And it’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up, taking a chance, and proving that when we come together, amazing things happen.

The Bigger Picture

Manwell Music isn’t just about music, it’s about mental health, resilience and the power of community. Every song played together serves as a reminder that none of us have to face life alone.

Music gives us something words often can’t. A way to express, release, and connect. When you’re in the studio, surrounding by the rest of the band you’re not making music; you’re making space. For yourself. Space to breath. Space to heal.

We know that men often struggle to open up about mental health. But when you’re jamming together those conversations happen naturally. That’s why Manwell Music matters.

So here’s to music, mates, and making a difference – one session at a time.
