General FAQs

What is MANWELL?

MANWELL is an organisation* which promotes and actively participates in men's health and well being.

*We're working towards approval as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and will have more information about this soon.

Who are you?

Simply put we are a bunch of men who came together over a shared love of football and decided to do something about their physical and mental health.  The community has grown organically as word spread and now we're hoping to reach even more people as we officially become a charitable organisation.

And you do what, Exactly?

Currently we are focused on football however we've already added an informal running group and, in the long term, are planning to expand this to other activities such as but not limited to cricket, cycling and swimming etc.

So who can get involved?

The simple answer is any man in the Liverpool City Region. Individual projects (for example our Football program for men with obesity) might be targeted at more specific audiences but we'll be really clear where this is the issue.

If however you are outside of the city region please contact us and we will do our best to advise you of our future plans and, in the meantime please feel free to use any resources you find on the site.

Why MANWELL?

Great question -

There are loads of weight and wellbeing agencies out there but only a small percentage of them focus just on men.

When it comes to physical health, mental health and our general wellbeing most men are probably familiar with the phrase "Man Up". It's shorthand for ignoring the issues, bottling up emotions and keeping quiet about worries and stresses.

This affects single men, married men, men with friends, men in great jobs - in fact men in all walks of life.

MANWELL exists to provide for men who want to look after their own wellbeing through exercise, activities or just being part of a community. We're an open and inclusive group where we hope anyone would feel at home.
